Discover the beating heart of Hawaii’s seafood industry at the Honolulu Fish Auction, the only fresh tuna auction of its kind in the United States. Modeled after the famous Tokyo auction, this state-of-the-art facility at Pier 38 serves as the anchor for the local fishing village, offering a rare glimpse into a fast-paced, competitive bidding process found nowhere else between Japan and Maine. Watch as vessels unload their catch just feet from the auction floor, where premium fish are sold individually to ensure fair compensation for independent fishermen and the absolute freshest quality for consumers. Step into a tradition that has united fishermen and buyers since 1952 and see firsthand how the “best in class” catch makes it to your plate.
